How to make a QR code that still scans after printing

Configure the payload, preserve contrast and test the code at its real size before distributing it.

The generator creates QR codes for URLs, Wi-Fi, WhatsApp, Telegram, email, phone numbers, vCards, events, maps, social profiles and menus. You can choose colours, square, rounded or dot modules, add a frame and download a PNG.

Static QR codes store their payload in the pattern and cannot be changed later. The dynamic option encodes a redirect URL that you must operate yourself: MyWorkingArea does not host or manage that destination. If the redirect stops responding, the printed code is no longer useful.

What result to expect

You will download “qr-myworkingarea.png”, 400 pixels wide and 448 pixels high when a frame is included.

When this is useful

  • Share Wi-Fi access without manually typing its password.
  • Open a menu, form, map or profile from printed material.
  • Save a vCard contact or the basic details of an event.

Checks before sharing

  • Confirm that the decoded payload is exactly right before printing.
  • Avoid low-contrast colour combinations and unpredictable transparent backgrounds.
  • For redirects, maintain the domain, HTTPS and path for the entire lifetime of the material.

Limitations to understand

  • Dynamic mode requires your own redirect URL; the site provides neither redirect hosting nor analytics.
  • The centre identifier is decorative and uses code area, so test it carefully with long payloads.
  • Excessively enlarging a PNG can soften its edges; test at the intended print size.

Frequently asked questions

Can a static QR be changed after printing?

No. Its payload is part of the pattern. A changeable destination requires a redirect URL you control and can update.

Which colours work best?

A dark foreground on a light background is the most reliable. Avoid textures and gradients behind the code.

Does saving the PNG guarantee it will scan?

No. Size, print quality, contrast, distance and camera all matter. Test the final medium on more than one device.
