Resize image

Change the width and height of an image with precise control.

Reviewed practical guide

How to resize an image while preserving its proportions

Use common presets or custom dimensions and understand why a small source is not enlarged automatically.

Resize image accepts a width and height up to 12,000 pixels or presets such as 1080 × 1080, 1080 × 1350, 1920 × 1080 and 1200 × 630. The processor fits the image inside the requested box while preserving aspect ratio, without cropping or distortion.

The operation deliberately avoids enlarging a smaller source. This prevents invented detail and visibly soft results: when the requested box exceeds the original, its dimensions may remain unchanged. To fill a frame with a different aspect ratio, crop first.

What result to expect

You will receive a copy fitted to the new maximum dimensions in the source image’s common format.

When this is useful

  • Prepare images for 1200 × 630 social cards without distortion.
  • Reduce camera photographs to dimensions suitable for a website.
  • Set a consistent maximum size across a collection before publishing.

Checks before sharing

  • When the destination requires an exact ratio, crop first and resize afterwards.
  • Do not use a screen-sized source for a large print.
  • Test the image inside the real component, including on a high-density display.

Limitations to understand

  • Fit-inside behaviour can return one dimension below the requested value when aspect ratios differ.
  • Small images are not enlarged and no AI detail is generated.
  • Text already rasterised into the image can become hard to read after a strong reduction.

Frequently asked questions

Why are width and height not both exact?

The image is not cropped or distorted. It fits inside the box, so one dimension may be smaller when aspect ratios differ.

Can I enlarge a small image?

Not with this operation. Enlargement is prevented to avoid implying a false quality improvement; use a larger source or a dedicated upscaler.

Will resizing also reduce file size?

Usually, when many pixels are removed, but the result depends on format and content. Check the downloaded file.
