Split PDF

Separate a PDF by pages or by custom ranges.

Reviewed practical guide

How to split a PDF by page, range or fixed block

Choose the right split mode and avoid overlapping ranges, missing pages and ZIP files whose contents are hard to identify.

Split PDF can create one file per page, keep custom groups such as 1-3 and 4-8 together, or break a document after every fixed number of pages. All generated parts are packaged in one ZIP download.

The modes solve different problems. One-per-page is suited to individual sheets, custom ranges preserve sections of unequal length, and fixed blocks work well for repeated records such as a two-page form for each recipient.

What result to expect

You will download “pdf-dividido.zip”, containing numbered parts in the same order as the source PDF.

When this is useful

  • Separate certificates or receipts that were scanned as one batch.
  • Extract complete chapters with ranges of different lengths.
  • Split repeated forms into regular two- or three-page records.

Checks before sharing

  • Count physical PDF pages rather than printed page numbers, which may start later or restart.
  • Enter ranges in ascending order and check that they do not leave accidental gaps.
  • Rename extracted parts when recipients need meaningful filenames.

Limitations to understand

  • Splitting follows page positions; it does not automatically recognise chapters, people or invoice boundaries.
  • Internal links to pages placed in another part may no longer be meaningful.
  • The new files should not be considered covered by a digital signature applied to the complete source document.

Frequently asked questions

How should I write ranges?

Use groups such as 1-3, 4-8. Each group becomes one part and numbering starts at the first physical page of the PDF.

Can I make one file for every two pages?

Yes. Select the fixed-block option and enter 2. If the total is odd, the final part will contain fewer pages.

Why is the result a ZIP file?

A split produces several PDFs. The ZIP keeps every part together for a single reliable download.
